Chapter 01

The Brief

Sebastian Professional was looking for a partnership with an international tattoo artist. Scope of work: 6 unique artworks exclusively designed for Sebastian Professional, bringing to life the stories of 6 of their iconic products. From the inspiration underlying their creation and their inimitable benefits to the type of personality they complement best, Sebastian will provide extensive knowledge about those tools to support the customer in bringing their personal style to fruition.

The Concept

The Brand

Sebastian – probably the edgiest hair styling brand in the world. 40 years ago a legend formed by creativity, fearlessness and innovation was born in LA: Sebastian brought its first Iconic products to life.

The Target Group: Millennials

Millennials are the heaviest consumers of styling and finish services in salons. Sebastian strives to create brand awareness with cool and edgy communication and thereby help salons attract this new group of clients.

The Idea

Not one but six — Maxime Büchi translates the key ideas behind six iconic Sebastian products into unique designs, each blending his signature style with graphic and impressionistic representations of the product benefits.

The Artist

Swiss-born, London-based Maxime Büchi is best known as an in-demand tattoo artist at his studio Sang Bleu. But he’s also a creative director and publisher for fashion and design publications who has worked with brands like Mugler, Rick Owens, and Balenciaga. His work blends varied influences, from medieval iconography to architecture to computer-generated scientific imagery. Sang Bleu is Maxime’s passion. It’s his tattoo studio in East London, but also a contemporary art studio, a magazine, and an internet platform.

The Execution

Not one but six — renowned tattoo artist Maxime Büchi translates the key ideas behind six iconic Sebastian products into unique designs, each blending his signature style with graphic and impressionistic representations of the product benefits. The result? Not just a limited edition – a collector's edition. From classical, medieval or renaissance references or the influence of mystical engravings to graphical and contemporary shapes: it's all in the mix.
